The Junior League of Brooklyn was established in 1910 by women interested in fighting the health and social problems associated with overcrowded tenement neighborhoods. Our vision is to be Brooklyn's premiere volunteer organization that affects enduring and meaningful change in our community.
Reaching Out Statement
The Junior League of Brooklyn reaches out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism. Quick Facts- 90% of JLB members work from outside of home
- We can most easily fill volunteer hours after work (after 6pm) or on weekends.
- Our focus statement is: "The JLB advocates the health and educational development of Brooklyn's families at risk."
- Volunteer opportunities must relate to helping Brooklyn Families at Risk.
- The JLB calendar year is from June through May -- these are the months we can provide volunteers to your organization. Additionally, some individuals may be able to volunteer during the summer months but it there are limited number.
- Each member volunteers 60 hours for each JLB calendar year, June through May.
